Monogram 1960 Corvette
Monogram 1960 Chevrolet Corvette bought from local toy fair. About halfway built here with detail and interior yet to be painted, by the time this hits the web it will probably be finished! I hadn't built a plastic kit for a while what with all the resin work and wanted something I could put together quickly for the fun of it, enter the Monogram Corvette.
Claims to be 1/32nd scale but works out to about 1/38th. This one is a 70s reissue of an early 60s kit and features the multi piece bodyshell typical of that period. With the four bodyshell pieces stuck and blended together and chassis clipped in there are only eight further pieces to go! Not a complex kit then but nicely detailed. The only real problem is that the windscreen frame is rather chunky. I have thinned it out as much as possible with a craft knife and will add a matt black windscreen rubber to the inside of the frame which will help give the illusion of being thinner. By coincidence I have just picked up a Linberg 62(ish) Corvette Sebring Racer which is also 1/38th (5/16ths" = 1 foot as Linberg describe it, 1/32nd is 3/8ths" = 1 foot) which will sit very nicely next to it. Suspiciously similar kit in lots of ways, apart from the 62s different back end but also features a rubber band drive motor! Superb looking box too.
