Scalex MG Maestro to Austin Maestro VDP
Part two - bodyshell finished, just needs a chassis! 01/07/04
All finished bodyshell that is just awaiting the location of a suitably 80s interior and some wheels.Headlights are Perspex and the grill and tail lights are resin copies of Scalex ones. Windows were vac formed over the originals and the rear window was cut off this. The front part was then trimmed untill they both fitted and were glued in with a glue gun.
Scan
on the right illustrates the differences between the standard red Scalex
shell and my modified one. The diffence in the distance between the front
arch and the door is obvious, the difference in rear overhang slightly
less so. The altered angle of the rear bumper can also be seen. A fairly
easy conversion but was it worth it? Probably not, most people would be
quite happy with just repainting the standard shell!
Last thing - does anybody remember those computery type number plates that were quite popular back then? I need to find a suitable typeface to make some with otherwise I'll have to draw them out and scan them in and reduce them.
